Dick’s Sporting Goods expands new Public Lands, Golf Galaxy store concepts
Dick’s Sporting Goods continues to roll out its new experiential and discount store formats.
The nation’s largest sporting goods retailer will open its second Public Lands store on November 5, in Columbus, Ohio. The format, which is focused on outdoor activities and land conservation, made its debut in September, at Cranberry Square, in the Pittsburgh suburb of Cranberry Township.
The 60,000-sq.-ft. Public Lands will feature a 30-foot rock wall, an in-store gear repair and rental department and specialized shops dedicated to various outdoor activities including biking, camping, fishing, paddling, climbing, running and hiking. It will carry outdoor and lifestyle apparel, footwear, and equipment brands, and support the local outdoor community through conservation and access and equity-based initiatives. One percent of all Public Lands sales will go back into local and national conservation efforts.

In addition, Dick’s will open the second location of its Golf Galaxy Performance Center format, at Tamarack Village Shopping Center in Woodbury, Minn. The former Golf Galaxy store has been redesigned to offer golfers of all levels an immersive experience, with state-of-the-art hitting bays, custom fittings and golf lessons from a PGA-certified professional. It offers a wide assortment of equipment, apparel and footwear from top brands.
The new location expands upon the company's commitment to golf, which includes 18 remodeled Golf Galaxy locations and increased technology offerings in all Golf Galaxy locations across the country by the end of 2021.
Dick’s is also expanding its warehouse and deep-discount formats. It will open two Going, Going, Gone! stores on Nov. 15, at Arizona Mills Mall, Temple, Ariz., and Ross Towne Center, Pittsburgh. It will open two Warehouse Sale locations, at Lynnhaven East | North Mall Shops, Virginia Beach, Va., and Lakewood Center Mall, Lakewood, Calif.
As of October 30, 2021, the company operated 734 Dick’s Sporting Goods locations across the United States. It also owns and operates Golf Galaxy, Field & Stream and Public Lands specialty stores,
